Human gut microbiota is exposed to thousands of xenobiotics, ranging from therapeutic drugs to chemical pollutants. Chemical pollutants are particularly concerning. They are increasingly recognised as a key environmental threat due to widespread pollution, which by some estimates has exceeded the safe ‘planetary boundary’. Kiran will preset his lab’s effort to understand impact of these chemicals on gut bacteria using molecular approaches and emerging molecular insights towards mitigating their negative impact.
