FLI Seminar with Dr. Orsolya Leidecker: Signalling at the nuclear pore complex

Seminars

Dr. Orsolya Leidecker from CECAD, Cluster of Excellence for Aging Research at the University of Cologne, will speak on September 23rd at the Leibniz Institute on Aging - Fritz Lipmann Institute (FLI) about current findings.

Dr. Leidecker's group is interested in two key cellular processes that often become deregulated during aging and in cancer: genome stability maintenance and trafficking through the nuclear pore complex (NPC). They explore critical questions related to how individual NPC components contribute to DNA repair and how posttranslational modifications regulate NPC functions, both within and outside the NPC. A major focus of the group's research is on ADP-ribosylation, catalyzed by two biomedically important enzymes: PARP11, which modulates the innate immune response and serves as a novel immuno-oncology target and PARP1, an early stress responder to DNA damage.
