Within the Leibniz Graduate School on Aging in Jena the Membrane Trafficking Group invites applications for a PhD student position (TV-L E13/2).
The FLI provides an international and dynamic research environment with highly interacting groups. Our group is working on the intracellular transport of membrane proteins, including proteins involved in axonopathies like hereditary spastic paraplegias. Research topics are basic molecular mechanisms of protein secretion out of the endoplasmic reticulum (ER) and ER-related pathomechanisms in axonopathies.
We are looking for a motivated student who likes to work on cell- /neurobiological projects using cell biological and biochemical approaches (intracellular trafficking using fluorescent reporters, protein-protein interaction studies) in cell lines, primary neuronal cultures and mouse models.
The FLI is excellently equipped with state-of-the-art facilities like proteomics, functional genomics, imaging (with confocal, video, TIRF, FLIM, FCS microscopy). General interest in cell-/neurobiology is essential, experience in one of the techniques mentioned above highly desirable.
